February Update
I hope everyone had a wonderful holiday season, and are doing well so far in 2012. As some of you already know, I bought a new home this past November. My mom, Nancy Howell and I have moved into our new home and have been very busy getting settled in. Our 2011 Year End Banquet was well attended and was again a very fun event. We were able to award prizes down to 10th place in the Open, 5th place in the Youth and 3rd place in the Senior. The total 2011 awards package including the banquet came to $8,894.00 which included giving a total of 87 jackets to club members. The total payout for our 2011 season excluding the Fast and Furious race (they did the payout) was $35,106.00.
Upcoming Races
I have been busy lining up arenas and dates for our 2012 race season. So far I have about half our races scheduled. The 2012 Glacier Barrel Bash will be held June 16th and at Thomson’s arena, same format as previous years. We will still need to acquire sponsors for this race. Be looking for more information concerning this race coming soon. I will be co-sanctioning with the Fast & Furious race again this year. The Fast & Furious will be May 5th at Majestic Valley Arena, be watching for more information concerning this race also soon. I have commitments from Thomson’s Arena, Tobacco Valley Arena in Eureka and an arena in Ronan, plus I have a couple new arenas in the Kalispell area that are interested in having races this summer. Thank you to Wendy McCaffree for doing some legwork for me. It may be possible to still have a few barrel races at the Hay Shed Arena later this summer and/or early Fall. I hope that by next month I will have most of our 2012 race season schedule.
Director's Corner
Thank you to everyone who contributed towards my gift at year end. For those of you who were not at the banquet, I received a really nice hand made mailbox. It looks very nice out front of my new home. I want to thank everyone for another great year of barrel racing. I am looking forward to 2012 being another great season. The 2012 NBHA Montana State Championships will have $5000.00 in added prize money, $1500 towards saddles & a multitude of other prizes. It will be held Sept 28th, 29th & 30th so be sure to get your memberships renewed.
